We are strong supporters of the 'my iPS concept', which aims to enable more people to benefit from regenerative medicine, especially those suffering from diseases that are difficult to treat, and have started joint research with the CiRA Foundation.

Currently, the production of iPS cells that can be used for medical treatment is very costly.

Despite well-trained staff producing iPS cells for this purpose, there are inevitably variations in the properties of the individual iPS cells that are established.

We believe that solving these variations cannot be done by conventional thinking.

Therefore, we are researching new concepts that utilize technologies such as microfluidic channels.

Making full use of the Canon Group's proprietary technologies and expertise, including in medical diagnostics, imaging analysis, and production, we aim to manufacture equipment that incorporates a new approach in thinking.

As the first phase of this development, we are working on a new experimental platform.

Rather than simply controlling and stabilising the manufacturing process and reducing the quality variation, we want to understand the essential mechanisms causing the variations and create an optimized process based on this knowledge in the development of our instrumentation.

The ultimate goal is an instrument that complies with regulations of regenerative medicine products, has good usability, and reduces the installation burden in terms of its interface and power consumption.

Osaka Kansai Japan Expo 2025 is a major milestone for this project.

We will do our best to showcase the my iPS cell instrument we are developing together with the CiRA Foundation.
